Israel stretches its hand out for peace
Recent announcements by the new Israeli PM Ehud Olmert left me dumbfounded. I quote the BBC:"Should we realise that the bilateral track with the Palestinians is of no consequence, should the Palestinians ignore our outstretched hand for peace, Israel will seek other alternatives to promote our future, and the prospects of hope in the Middle East. At that juncture, the time for realignment will occur," he said.
So now it's Israel stretching its hand out for peace? And their definition of peace: starving the Palestinians for having democratic elections; intimidating the Arab world and all major financial institutions for daring to offer monetary aid to the PA; building more illegal settlements on land grabbed in 1967; building an apartheid wall; turning Gaza into a huge prison...the list is endless.
And the pretext? That Hamas is a "terrrorist" organization. That hamas is refusing to recognize Israel. Does anyone ever ask why it's refusing to recognize it? What is the bone of contention? No. Besides, wasn't Irgun a terrorist organization targeting British interests, and didn't its leader Menachem Begin become the Israeli Prime Minister?

Israel will never negotiate with a powerful militant such as Hamas or they will lose the same way they lost to the Egyptian in the peace negotiation
