My censored BBC comment

I submitted an edited down version of this comment on the effect of Ahmadinijad's letter, to the BBC's "Have Your Say" reader's comments section, but it never made it through the moderator. So here it is:

"Ahmadinejad's letter was a refreshing reminder of all the issues that international anti-war, human rights and peace advocates have been calling for since America declared a "war on terror", which led to the meaningless death of thousands of innocents.

I doubt very much that such an honest and simple call for negotiations on an equal footing will resonate with an arrogant US administration which has continuously ignored the will of the "international community" and that of the majority of its own citizens, yet has the audacity to take Iran to task for "daring" to exercise its right to develop peaceful energy sources.

The media offensive waged in the US against the threat of an Iranian A-bomb is black propaganda, pure and simple. It was the hallmark of the Cold War, and the run-up to the war on Iraq which failed to produce WMDs and their imminent threat. There is simply no evidence to back up any of their allegations.

If the US administration would just live and let live without striving to control the universe and forcing everyone to play the game according to its rules just so a handful of multinationals would continue to exploit the rest of the world, then maybe there could be some hope for peace.

I think it would be a tactical error on their part not to make an official response to this letter even if they don't think it touched enough on the nuclear standoff. It could be a start."
